Cumberland Valley edged the Mifflin County baseball team yesterday, 4-3. The Juniata softball team, meanwhile, opened its season with an 8-5 victory over Susquenita. Elizabeth Gaisor struck out 13 for the Indians. She also smacked a two-run home run. East Juniata’s Brenna Watts earned the win, striking out six, in the Tigers’ 2-0 win over Millersburg.
In area track and field, Chambersburg defeated Mifflin County, 84-66.
The NCAA men’s and women’s Final Fours are set. Houston and Baylor meet in one men’s semifinal with UCLA and Gonzaga playing in the other. For the women, South Carolina takes on Stanford and Arizona will play UConn.
And the Sixers lost out in Denver last night, 104-95, the final.
