Authorities were called in to deal with numerous noise complaints near the Ollie’s Store in Burnham.  On March 26th, Mifflin County Regional Police received a complaint of excessive noise and reckless behavior from a group loitering in the store parking lot.  Regional Officers identified one of the violators and issued citations for Disorderly Conduct and several traffic violations.  Signs will be installed in the near future to curb the problematic behavior.  Once in place, Regional Police will enforce non-compliance during the “after store hours” with zero tolerance.

A U.S. Postal employee has pled guilty to three counts of mail theft. The U. S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania says 51-year-old Candy Ehler of Harrisburg, a Lower Paxton Postal employee, pled guilty on March 29th.  In August, 2019, the Postal Service was notified that medication had not been received by the intended recipient.  A pattern of missing or stolen medication packages containing opioid-based controlled substances had developed.  Packages were returned to the Post Office after delivery failed.  Video surveillance revealed Ehler removing three medication packages that were not on her primary route.  The intended recipients never received their medication. Ehler is facing a maximum of 15 years in prison, and a $750,000 fine.

Geisinger surpassed more than 200,000 vaccine doses administered, marking another milestone in the fight against COVID-19. As more vaccine makes its way into more arms, state data shows five of the top 12 counties in full vaccine coverage are home to Geisinger hospitals.  Those counties include Montour, Lackawanna, Columbia, Northumberland, and Luzerne Counties.  Of the 211,000 vaccine doses administered by Geisinger, 86% have gone to members of the community not employed by Geisinger.

 The Borough of Lewistown will reinstate street sweeping schedules beginning April 4th.  All posted parking restrictions and regulations become effective on Easter Sunday.
