The Mifflin County girl’s lacrosse team made history on Saturday, winning for the first time in program history, a 6-5 overtime win against Selinsgrove. Kashia Smith and Sadie Fike scored twice for the huskies. Ella Kammerer also scored a goal. Sammy McCool nailed the game-winner in overtime for the Mifflin County victory.
Juniata College first baseman Isaac Maclay, out of Mifflin County High School, hit three home runs in the first game of a doubleheader split with Susquehanna. Also over the weekend, another pair of former Mifflin County Huskies, Emily Bingman and Analisa Yoder, both had big days for Rosemont College. Bingaman was 3-for- 5 with a homer and four RBI and Yoder doubled and scored twice in a doubleheader split with Cedar Crest.
A pair of Port Royal residents earned Port Royal Speedway wins on Saturday night. Dylan Cisney won 410’s while Devin Hart took Limited Late Models. Mifflintown’s Ryan Zook ran second in the latter. Jeff Rine won Late Models. Mifflin County’s Nick Dickson ran 10th. The NASCAR Cup Series race, meanwhile, was postponed until this afternoon at four.
Oregon State takes on Houston and Arkansas plays Baylor tonight for berths in the NCAA men’s Final Four. USC battles Gonzaga and UCLA takes on Michigan tomorrow in the other two round of eight contests.
And the Phillies and Pirates continue to prepare for Thursday’s Opening Day. The Fightin’s beat the Yankees in spring training yesterday, 6-2, while the Bucs beat Baltimore, 2-1.
