Authorities in Huntingdon County are investigating an apparent suicide.  State Police troopers responded to reports of a gunshot wound on Loop Road in Oneida Township on March 23rd.  The victim was a 61-year-old unidentified male.  The investigation will continue. 

The Juniata County Commissioners have extended the deadline to apply for a homelessness prevention grant to March 29th. The Resident Subsistence Program is being offered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support hard-hit residents and is funded by the Community Development Block Grant-CARES Act (CDBG-CV).  Residents at risk of losing their housing in Juniata County may be eligible to receive up to $5,000 to prevent homelessness.  The grants can be used to pay utility payments to prevent cutoff of service.  Applications and other necessary documentation can be found at If you do not have access to a computer or internet, call 1-800-332-6701.  For more information, visit 

Lewistown Intermediate School is closed today due to COVID-19 protocol.  The tentative plan is to have LIS reopen for in-person instruction tomorrow.  

Due to a scheduled power outage, the Mifflin County Library will be closed today.  The library will reopen tomorrow with hours from 3:30 to 7:00 pm.
