Authorities in Huntingdon County are investigating an apparent suicide.  State Police troopers responded to reports of a gunshot wound on Loop Road in Oneida Township on March 23rd.  The victim was a 61-year-old unidentified male.  The investigation will continue. 

The Juniata County Commissioners have extended the deadline to apply for a homelessness prevention grant to March 29th. The Resident Subsistence Program is being offered in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support hard-hit residents and is funded by the Community Development Block Grant-CARES Act (CDBG-CV).  Residents at risk of losing their housing in Juniata County may be eligible to receive up to $5,000 to prevent homelessness.  The grants can be used to pay utility payments to prevent cutoff of service.  Applications and other necessary documentation can be found at https://www.juniataco.org/. If you do not have access to a computer or internet, call 1-800-332-6701.  For more information, visit www.seda-cog.org. 

Lewistown Intermediate School is closed today due to COVID-19 protocol.  The tentative plan is to have LIS reopen for in-person instruction tomorrow.  

Due to a scheduled power outage, the Mifflin County Library will be closed today.  The library will reopen tomorrow with hours from 3:30 to 7:00 pm.
