Mifflin County’s girls will play Altoona this Saturday for the District VI 6A championship. The Huskies got 19 points from Brianna Bodtorf and 16 more from Marissa Gingrich in knocking out State College, 65-18.

Former PIAA champions out of Mifflin County, Hayden and Trent Hidlay, both now starring for NC State, earned two seeds for the upcoming NCAA Wrestling Championships. Penn State’s Aaron Brooks is a one-seed, in the same weight class as Trent Hidlay. Lions’ Nick Lee and Roman Bravo-Young are twos, Carter Starocci a three.

Penn State’s men’s basketball team overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to beat Nebraska in the Big Ten Tournament, 72-66. The Nittany Lions move into the second round, where they’ll play six-seed Wisconsin tonight. The Lady Lions, meanwhile, are done after losing to Michigan State yesterday, 75-66.

And, in spring training play, the Phillies beat Detroit, 6-4, while the Yankees nipped the Pirates, 6-5.
