Mount Carmel bounced the East Juniata girls from the District IV playoffs last night, 59-29. Tonight, the Tiger boys take on Canton, also in the first round.

In a regular season games, the Mifflin County girls beat West Perry, 68-26, while Bellefonte boys knocked off the Huskies, 61-48. Marissa Gingrich had 13 and Cade Penepacker 14 points for Mifflin County.

Penn State is set to host the Big Ten Wrestling Championships this weekend. The Lions have two top-ranked pre-seeds: Roman Bravo-Young at 133 and Aaron Brooks at 184.

Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby sat out due to COVID-19 protocol but the Penguins still took care of the Flyers, 5-2. Kasperi Kapanen scored twice for Pittsburgh, Joel Farabee twice for Philly.

In spring training action, Toronto beat the Phillies, 4-2, and Detroit downed the Pirates, 6-1.

And #24 Rutgers topped the Penn State Lady Lions, 74-56.
