Work will resume next week on the Route 322 – Potters Mills Gap project.   PennDOT says starting Monday (March 1st), Route 2015 (Old Route 322) will be closed from Route 144 to Crowfield Road.  Motorists traveling Route 322 east to Decker Valley Road or Crowfield Road will have to use the Sand Mountain Road exit.  Motorists traveling on Route 322 west to Route 144 will need to use the new Potters Mills exit.  

Highspeed internet is up and running in Perry County.  County Commissioners are urging area residents and businesses to sign up. As of January 27th, the coverage area includes Horse Valley, as well as south and southeast of the tower of the Blain area, and along Route 274 from the outskirts of New Germantown. Customers who are in a clear line of sight of Big Knob tower can sign up to receive service of up to 100 megabits.  Perry County, along with Mifflin and Juniata counties, worked with SEDA-COG to secure state and federal funds to incentivize the internet expansion project. 

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture says disaster relief funding is available for 25 PA counties.  Designated counties re eligible to receive disaster relief assistance from the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) due to losses caused by drought during the 2020 crop year.  The USDA says there were sufficient production losses to warrant a Secretarial natural disaster designation.  Designation Number 1, which includes Primary Counties Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, and Jefferson, is for the drought from June 1st through November 30th.  Designation 1 also includes Contiguous Counties Mifflin and Huntingdon.  Designation Number 2 includes Primary County Cumberland, and Contiguous Counties Perry and Franklin for the drought from June 6th through November 17th.  Eligible farmers can apply for loans for up to eight months from the date of a Secretarial disaster declaration.
