PennDOT has lifted some speed restrictions in the region.  Speed limits have returned to normal and the restriction for commercial vehicles to move to the right lane has been lifted on the entirety of I-99 and I-80 from the Bellefonte-161 interchange to mile-marker 212.   A speed reduction to 45 mph and commercial vehicles using the right lane only remains for Route 22/322 from I-99 in Centre County to the Harrisburg area.

A growing number of states are taking action to nullify executive orders from the Biden administration.  In Pennsylvania, Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler) has reintroduced his Right to Bear Arms Protection Act (House Bill 357) that seeks to make any additional federal gun control laws unenforceable within the Commonwealth.  Similar to legislation introduced in Wyoming and Texas, Metcalfe’s bill would prohibit enforcement of any new federal registration or restriction requirement for privately-owned firearms, magazines, and ammunition.  The measure would also require the Commonwealth, including the Attorney General, to intercede on behalf of Pennsylvania citizens against federal attempts to restrict or ban purchase or ownership of firearms and accessories which are currently legal.  Final enactment of House Bill 357 would mean that anyone — even federal agents — who try to enforce any type of new gun control restriction within state borders would face arrest and be charged with a felony offense.
