Three former state champs from the area won for their universities this weekend. Hayden and Trent Hidlay, out of Mifflin County High School, scored victories for third-ranked NC State in the Wolfpack’s win over #14 North Carolina. Port Royal’s Caleb Dowling, who wrestled for St. Joseph’s locally, didn’t start but wrestled in an extra match. The West Virginia freshman earned a major decision over his opponent from Colorado.

The Penn State Lady Lions scored their third straight road victory, beating Purdue, 80-70, while, in the NBA, the Sixers knocked off Indiana, 119-110.

And the Flyers won last night, posting a 4-3 overtime win over the visiting New York Islanders.
