Geisinger is expanding the availability of COVID-19 vaccines to those who qualify as part of the state’s updated Phase 1A groups. Vaccine appointments are available at the health system’s vaccine centers throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania.  Appointments are required, and can be made online using myGeisinger.   In alignment with federal and state guidelines, COVID vaccines are available to the state’s Phase 1A groups, which initially focused on health care providers, EMS personnel, and people living or working in care facilities.  Officials have expanded eligibility to individuals age 65 and older, and individuals ages 16-64 with certain medical conditions that increase the risk of severe illness from the virus.  For more information about the vaccine, visit the Geisinger COVID-19 vaccine resources center at geisinger.org/COVIDvax.

The Pennsylvania House State Government Committee held its first election hearing last week. The hearing was held to provide oversight of the 2020 election and look deeper into Pennsylvania’s 1937 election law so voters have faith in the process and the results.  The state’s top election officials, Secretary of the Commonwealth Kathy Boockvar and Deputy Secretary for Elections and Commissions Jonathan Marks, fielded questions and provided testimony.  This was the first hearing of a series to review election law and operations of the state and county governments.
