Authorities in Lewistown are investigating an armed robbery. The incident took place early Saturday at about 1:20 am at the Sunoco station on South Main Street. According to police, the suspect is Hispanic or a light-skinned black male. He entered the station armed with a pair of scissors, gained access to the register, and fled with an undisclosed sum of money. The suspect was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery, along with a black bandana over his face, and black and white flannel pajama pants. Authorities will release a photo of the suspect at a later time. Anyone with information should contact the Lewistown Police Department at 717-248-6716.
Geisinger administered its 20,000th COVID-19 vaccine last week. Of the vaccines provided, more than 16,000 were first doses, 14,000 of which were first doses for employees. Geisinger has also administered more than 10 percent of its first doses to non-Geisinger healthcare personnel in the state’s Phase 1A groups. Second dose vaccinations for employees began on January 6th. Geisinger has been providing vaccines to employees since mid-December. Last week, Geisinger opened four community-based COVID vaccine centers to expand vaccinations to the community in accordance with Department of Health guidelines.
“Operation Clean Sweep” will take place Saturday, January 30th, on the hallowed grounds at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. Volunteers will pick up over 40,000 wreaths which were placed on graves during Wreaths Across America Day celebrated on December 19th. Volunteers are asked to attend an 8:00 am process briefing, on the plaza of the PA Veterans Memorial located at the cemetery. Park at the Community Club / Arrowhead Bar & Grill Parking lot, on Fisher Avenue. A shuttle bus will begin operation at 7:30 am. All volunteers are required to comply with CDC guidelines.
