A fourth student with links to Mifflin County Junior High School has tested positive for COVID-19.  Per Department of Health guidelines, the school will be closed today (January 18th) through Wednesday, (January 20th).  The tentative plan is to have the school reopen for in-person instruction on Thursday (January 21st).  During the closure, Mifflin County Junior High School will receive extra cleaning per CDC and DOH guidelines.

PennDOT says Mann’s Narrows Road (Route 1005) reopened Friday night. The road had closed December 28th to allow PennDOT to evaluate a sloped rock formation and perform site cleanup. PennDOT has lifted the detours put in place during the closure.

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA) has joined with Slippery Rock University (SRU) to launch a pilot program to offer students in recreational therapy and behavioral sciences programs experience by completing service-learning projects that include interactions with older adults.  The Butler and Mercer County Area Agencies on Aging connected more than 100 seniors with PDA, who coordinated with the university to launch the program during the fall semester. The program will continue in the spring.  During the pilot program, students from the Recreational Therapy for Older Adults and Aging classes engaged with seniors typically twice a week.

Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania – The Pennsylvania National Guard Associations (“PNGAS”) and its PNGAS Business Action Council have announced details for their Virtual Job Fair.  The fair will be held Wednesday, January 27th between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.  All job seekers are welcome and can participate for free.   Employers can still participate by contacting PNGAS@PNGAS.org.  Registration for job seekers is open:  https://pngas.org/mission/jobs-board.  For several years, PNGAS has been helping Guard members, veterans, their spouses, military families, and job seekers search job opportunities.
