Pittsburgh fought back but, ultimately, a 28-0 first quarter deficit proved to be too much as Cleveland knocked the Steelers from the playoffs with last night’s 48-37 win. The Browns move on to play Kansas City in the Divisional Round, while Baltimore battles Buffalo in this coming weekend’s other AFC matchup.

Over in the NFC, Green Bay will host the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay will head to New Orleans.

Tonight, #1 Alabama takes on third-ranked Ohio State for the NCAA championship.

The Penn State women’s basketball team beat Minnesota yesterday, thanks to a strong second half, 69-60.

A former state champion out of Mifflin County, Hayden Hidlay, is off to a 2-0 start for fourth-ranked North Carolina State after beating his opponent from Appalachian State over the weekend. Hidlay is ranked second in the country at 157 pounds. The Wolfpack won, 24-12.

And Penn State’s men’s hockey team earned a series split at Ohio State with a 5-2 victory.
