A New Jersey man and a New York man have been indicted on fraud charges related to a romance scam.  The U. S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania says Kelvin Aggrey-Arthur, formerly of Newark, New Jersey, and Ibrahim Adam, formerly of New York City, were indicted by a federal grand jury for wire fraud and conspiring to commit wire fraud.  The indictment alleges that from June 2018 through March 2020, Aggrey-Arthur, Adam, and others perpetrated a romance scam in which they developed online relationships with victims and then requested that those victims send money for various reasons including travel, medical treatment, housing, and schooling. During the course of the scam, the co-conspirators attempted to obtain over $160,000 from victims. 

PennDOT has issued its one millionth REAL ID product, a major milestone in its work to issue REAL ID-compliant products to customers.  REAL ID is a federal law that affects how states issue driver’s licenses and ID cards if they are going to be acceptable for federal purposes, such as boarding a domestic flight or entering a federal building that requires ID upon entry. A federally acceptable form of identification must be used for these purposes beginning October 1st, 2021. There is no requirement that any resident obtain a REAL ID; PennDOT continues to offer standard-issue driver’s licenses and photo IDs.
