A Mifflin County man has been charged with wire fraud. On December 10th, a federal grand jury indicted 46-year-old Daniel P. Sickels on wire fraud and false statement charges. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the indictment charges Sickels, a Network and Systems Manager at Penn State University with fraudulently acquiring equipment that he subsequently sold to third parties. The scheme lasted from 2005 to 2017. Sickels is also charged with falsely telling FBI investigators that he never received payment for items that were purchased by the university.
Representative John Hershey (R-Mifflin/Juniata/Franklin) has made changes to his district office schedules to better serve residents of the 82nd District. Hershey now maintains offices at 28 Industrial Circle in Mifflintown, and 3 West Monument Square in Lewistown. Both will be open five days a week, with Mifflintown open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Lewistown open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Residents of Franklin County should watch for future announcements about an office in their county.
Saturday (December 19th) is National Wreaths Across America Day! The mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,100 additional locations in all fifty states, at sea and abroad. Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and Wreaths Across America (WAA), along with their partners will lay and recover approximately 267,000 wreaths to honor our nation’s heroes and their family members.
