Authorities are searching for two men wanted for an incident last month in Juniata County. According to State Police, 20-year-old Christopher Gahagan of Mifflin and 37-year-old Charles Leahy of Honey Grove entered a residence on Groninger Valley Road in Beale Township on November 11th. Gahagan initiated a physical altercation with the residents then fled the scene with Leahy in a stolen silver Chevy Uplander. There is an active arrest warrant for both men. Anyone with information should contact State Police at Lewistown.
Expiration dates for commercial driver licenses and commercial learner’s permits will be extended for Pennsylvania residents in response to statewide COVID-19 mitigation efforts. PennDOT says the expiration dates for commercial learner’s permits and commercial driver licenses scheduled to expire from March 16th through December 31st, 2020, are extended through December 31st. Expiration extension deadlines on non-commercial driver licenses, photo id cards, learner’s permits, and camera cards ended on August 31st.
Police say a shooting earlier this week in Juniata County was accidental. A 21-year-old Millerstown man was the victim of the shooting Tuesday night on Aucker Road in Monroe Township. The incident remains under investigation by the State Police.
The Lewistown Borough Tax office is closed for in-person business (effective December 2nd, 2020). Taxpayers are encouraged to mail payments to Tax Collector, 2 East 3rd Street, Lewistown, PA 17044. There is also a red drop box outside the tax collector office inside Borough Hall. Do not mail or leave cash.
The State Police statistical report shows one fatality recorded on area highways in Mifflin and Juniata Counties in November. There were 52 total crashes investigated by State Police in the two-county region. Seven of those were hit-and-run crashes. The Lewistown barracks made 62 criminal arrests last month. Thirty arrests were made in Mifflin County, 32 in Juniata County.
