A House bill that would have protected businesses, schools, nursing homes and others from frivolous lawsuits was vetoed by Governor Tom Wolf. Senator Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) says forthcoming legal challenges will likely be extremely expensive, and if a school district is sued, it will result in higher school property taxes for PA taxpayers.
A Beavertown woman escaped injury Sunday night when her vehicle struck a deer in Decatur Township. State Police say 25-year-old Amber Freed was the operator of a Ford Focus on Back Maitland Road Sunday just after 9:30 pm. A deer entered the roadway as Freed’s vehicle approached Kepner Lane. The mishap caused disabling damage to the vehicle but the driver was not hurt.
