Two Mifflin County High School students have tested positive for COVID-19. The school will be closed today (Monday, November 2nd), and tomorrow (Tuesday, November 3rd). The school will reopen for in-person instruction on Wednesday (November 4th). During the closure, the high school will receive extra cleaning per CDC and DOH guidelines. Mifflin County High School students will receive their education through a full on-line format during the closure. The school district is also experiencing a shortage of bus drivers for this week.  Drivers are needed for Bus 192, Bus 93, Bus 149, Bus 140, and Van 71. Students who are unable to find alternative transportation should access their class work using online platforms if possible.

The Juniata County School District will follow the instructional model, 4-1 plan this week (November 2nd). Students will attend school onsite Monday through Thursday, with Friday scheduled as a remote learning day.

Authorities in Huntingdon County are investigating multiple threats made against Juniata Valley High School.  The threats were posted on the social media platform Tik Tok after the posting of a political video.  The incident is under investigation by the State Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

Fall leaf collection begins today (November 2nd) in the Borough of Lewistown.  Leaves will be collected until November 30th, Monday through Friday on the next working day after your regular refuse day.  Customers should place leaves in a plastic bag at the curb by 6:00 am on pick-up day.  Leaves are not to be raked loose into the street.  If you have questions, contact the Borough Refuse Office at 717-248-1331. 

 A Huntingdon County golf club will be hosting a benefit dinner for a woman whose house exploded on October 19th.  The Sunset Golf Club will host the spaghetti dinner this Wednesday (November 4th), from 4:00 to 7:00 pm for Michele Shovlin, who was burned in the explosion on Highland Avenue in Huntingdon. Visitors can dine-in or call ahead for take-out.  Donations will be accepted throughout the day as well.
