The Mifflin County School District says another bus driver has tested positive for COVID-19.  The driver tested positive three days after being placed in quarantine due to exposure outside of the school district.  Because the bus driver was already in quarantine for more than 4 days since last driving for the district, no students or staff members were required to be placed in quarantine. The administration wanted to share the information with parents and guardians in a continuing effort to maintain transparency.

Two people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Huntingdon County.  According to State Police, the collision occurred shortly after 1:00 pm on Route 829 – Trough Creek Valley Pike in Union Township.  A 16-year-old female driver from Calvin drove her Subaru Legacy into the oncoming lane of traffic.  A Pontiac Grand Am driven 56-year-old Tim Duvall of Wood, PA swerved to avoid contact, but was struck by the Subaru.  Both drivers were transported for treatment.

Authorities are conducting an investigation into shots being fired in Lewistown last weekend.  Officers from the Lewistown Police Department responded to the 500 block of West Fifth Street at about 7:35 pm on October 17th.  Shots were apparently fired at a residence in the area.  No one was injured.  The incident is still under investigation.

Despite Pennsylvania’s first confirmed case of COVID-19 in a domestic cat, veterinary experts say residents should not be concerned about contracting the virus from pets and other domesticated animals.  People with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infections should take precautions to protect the health of their pets, according to professors in Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences.  A 16-year-old male cat in Cumberland County lived in a household with several people who had been diagnosed with COVID-19.  After suffering worsening respiratory distress, the cat was humanely euthanized. The Department of Agriculture advises pet owners to contact their veterinarian if their pets exhibit symptoms after contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
