Aubrey Strohecker scored three Mifflin County goals, Sarah Henry the two others, as the Huskies defeated Waynesboro in girls soccer, 5-3. Waynesboro’s boys edged Mifflin County, 1-0.
East Juniata’s boys won yesterday, shutting out Line Mountain, 8-0. Jake Brackbill’s hat trick led the way. Cade Brubaker scored twice for the Tigers.
In area volleyball, Juniata fell to Millersburg in four sets, 3-1. Mackenzie Bennett with five aces and 15 assists for the Indians.
Mifflin County’s cross country teams beat Hollidaysburg. Brayden Harris paced the boys to the 25-31 win, while Kylee Cubbison’s first place finish led MC to a 19-42 victory.
And Mookie Betts homered and stole a pair of bases to help lead the Dodgers to an 8-3 win over Tampa Bay in Game One of the best-of-seven World Series. Clayton Kershaw went six, striking out eight and allowing one earned run on two hits and a walk to get the win.
