Mifflin County’s boys  scored a 2-1 soccer win over Central Dauphin East yesterday. Trent Shade and Gavin Ream scored for the Huskies, with Conner Zimmerman earning 18 saves. The Mifflin County girls also won, beating CD East, 8-3. Aubrey Strohecker scored three times for the Huskies.

East Juniata’s boys got a goal from Cade Brubaker and that was all the Tigers needed for the 1-0 victory over Halifax. Juniata’s girls, meanwhile, fell to Susquenita, 3-1.

Cumberland Valley and Carlisle beat the Mifflin County boys and girls cross country teams, all by 21-40 scores. Brayden Harris and Kylee Cubbison were the Huskies’ top finishers.

In area volleyball, Juniata won three straight after an opening-set loss for a 3-1 win over Sugar Valley. Imarilis Mercado came up with 15 digs for the Indians. Also yesterday, Upper Dauphin scored a 3-0 win over East Juniata.

And Houston’s  Carlos Correa smashed a walk-off home run to keep the Astros alive in their American League Championship Series with Tampa Bay. Despite yesterday’s 4-3 loss, the Rays still lead the first-to-four, three games to two. Atlanta, meanwhile, turned a 1-1 ball game into a rout with a six-run sixth. The Braves’ 10-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers gives the team a three games to one lead in the NLCS.
