Lewistown’s Casey Goss is attempting to save this year’s Halloween Parade, as FameEMS was unable to sponsor it due to COVID-19 restrictions. Casey has created a non-profit under the name of Lewistown Borough Halloween Parade and set up an account at the Kish Bank.
The Halloween Parade (October 28th) will not be able to occur in downtown Lewistown, as that road is owned by PennDot which, due to restrictions, is not issuing any permits. The parade will instead occur on the south side of Lewistown as a one-year alternate route. The parade will set up and start on S. Grand Street near Grace Covenant Church and wrap around to come down S. Wayne Street. The parade will end near the Green Gables.
Casey and her group are reaching out to all community members to assist with costs associated to the parade going on, roughly $3,000 (insurance, permits, the marching bands if able, Fire Police, cash prizes, etc…). Anyone that is interested in helping can make a donation at Kish Bank or reach out to Casey at cassandra.goss0812@gmail.com or look for her group Mifflin County Trick or Treat Crawl on Facebook.
We recently had Casey on the Merf Morning Show to talk about her efforts and share even more details. Listen to that exclusive below.
