Jelvin Cardenas scored once and added two assists as Juniata’s boy’s soccer team defeated Millersburg yesterday, 4-0. Kierstyn Fogle, meanwhile, scored three times for East Juniata, as the Tigers knocked off Halifax, 8-0. Elsewhere, Hollidaysburg swept Mifflin County, beating the boys, 2-0, and the girls, 4-1.

Northwest blanked the East Juniata field hockey team, 6-0, while the Tigers’ volleyball team lost to St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy in four sets.

In area golf, East Juniata and Millersburg tied, with Newport finishing 18 strokes back. Tiger’s star Will Orwig shot a team-best 77, which was second-best overall on the day.

The Pirates didn’t have much to smile about this past season, finishing with the worst record in baseball but there was a bright spot, as Ke’Bryan Hayes has been named National League Rookie-of-the-Month.

Tampa Bay has won the NHL’s Stanley Cup championship, eliminating Dallas with last night’s 2-0 victory in Game Six.

And, in the NFL, Kansas City defeated Baltimore, 34-20.
