The Juniata girls soccer team beat Susquenita yesterday, 3-1. Katie Martin opened the scoring for the Indians with Megan Brubaker tacking on two more goals. Juniata is in Altoona tomorrow for a tournament, playing Hollidaysburg at one and State College at five.

Hershey shut out Mifflin County’s girls soccer team, 4-0, while East Juniata edged Lewisburg, 2-1, behind goals from Claire Guyer and Hailey Swartz

EJ’s field hockey team, meanwhile, was beaten by Line Mountain, 9-0. Mifflin County’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Central Dauphin. And Mifflin County’s golf team was sixth of sixth again, falling to 0-25, but the team shot a season-best team total in yesterday’s match at Cedar Cliff.

The Juniata junior high football team beat Park Forest Middle School, 38-20. Tonight, the varsity teams get back at it. Mifflin County is at Northern York, Juniata travels to Line Mountain , Mount Union is at Southern Huntingdon and Huntingdon hosts Clearfield.

Tomorrow, Penn State closes out non-conference play with a home game against Kent State. Kickoff at Beaver Stadium set for 12 noon. Juniata College, still looking for its first win of the year, welcomes in Ursinus.

Cincinnati improved to 2-0 with a 34-23 win over Baltimore last night in the NFL’s Week 2 opener. Sunday at one, the Steelers host Kansas City while the Eagles are at Tampa Bay.

Following yesterday’s scheduled off-days, the Phillies host Miami and the Pirates play in Milwaukee, today through Sunday.

And NASCAR runs the South Point 400 this Sunday at three.
