Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz threw three touchdown passes in last night’s 34-13 win over New York as Philadelphia got to .500 six games into this NFL season. Former Penn State superstar and current Giants rookie Saquon Barkley accounted for 229 all-purpose yards in defeat.

Juniata’s boys cross country team won a meet with St. Joseph’s, West Branch and Philipsburg-Osceola. Indians’ star Garrett Baublitz was the overall individual winner. Juniata’s Emily Houtz finished fourth overall in the girl’s race.

A Phil Kessel hat trick helped lead the Penguins past defending Stanley Cup runner-up Vegas last night. Jake Guentzel also scored for Pittsburgh in the 4-3 victory over the Golden Knights.

Sixteenth-ranked Penn State opened its men’s hockey season against #17 Clarkson last night. Lions win it, 4-3.

Mechanicsburg swept the Mifflin County soccer teams yesterday, beating the boys, 3-0, and the girls, 7-1.

Mifflin County will put its three-game winning streak on the line at 5-2 Dover tonight. Other area high school football games include 1-6 Juniata hosting undefeated Halifax. Mount Union is still looking for its first win of the year. The Trojans are at 6-1 Bellwood-Antis. And 2-5 Huntingdon travels to 1-6 Philipsburg-Osceola. Tomorrow, in college, Penn State hosts Michigan State.

Baseball is back after a couple of days off. Game One of the National League Championship Series’ best-of-seven goes tonight, with Milwaukee hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ALCS gets going tomorrow, with Houston traveling to Boston to play the Red Sox.

Just two NASCAR Monster Energy Series races to go until the playoff field is reduced to eight drivers. This Sunday’s race is set for Talladega.
