For the 10th time in 14 games this season, the undefeated East Juniata girls soccer team has scored nine goals or more. The Tigers cruised past Upper Dauphin yesterday, 12-0. Hailey Swartz with four of those Tiger goals. The EJ defense has been just as good, if not better, this year. The Tigers have allowed just six goals all season.

The Juniata girls are 10-4 after edging Halifax yesterday, 3-2. Ashlyn Pannebaker scored twice for the Indians. Hailey Kepner scored the eventual game-winner with a little more than three minutes to go on an assist from Pannebaker.

Upper Dauphin shut out the Juniata volleyball team, 3-0. Cathy Pecheco with 14 digs, four aces, three assists and a pair of kills for the Indians. Susanna Ranck also reached double figures in digs, notching 12 on the night.

Also last evening, the Juniata junior high football team defeated Camp Hill, 30-18.

Five different Philadelphia players scored last night in a game at Ottawa. Flyers 7, Senators 4 the final.

Another week of NFL action kicks off tonight when the New York Giants host the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. Philly is 2-3, the Giants just 1-4.

The Steelers play on Sunday, traveling to Cincinnati to play the first place Bengals. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin will travel with a lighter wallet. He’s been fined $25,000 for criticizing the refs following last week’s win over Atlanta.

Finally, the 7th-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team took out #17 Purdue in a Big Ten matchup, three games to one.
