Tony Watson escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Pirates over the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 yesterday.

Aaron Altherr hit a homer in the ninth, Cameron Rupp tied the game wtih a double and Ty Kelly brought home the game winner as the Phillies came from behind to beat the Nationals 4-3 in game one of a double header, but they weren’t so lucky the second round. Michael Taylor nailed a two-run homer in the eighth inning to put the Nationals ahead for a nightcap 6-5.

Chris Diaz tripled and singled twice, scoring two runs as the Altoona Curve beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-4 yesterday.

The Senators weren’t as lucky, Trenton Thunder beating Harrisburg 2-1.

Martin Truex Jr. streaked away on the final restart with two laps left in Saturday night’s Go Bowling 400 to win his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.

Former track champion Mark Smith of Sunbury wired the field for the 25-lap 410 sprint car win at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, taking the 33rd win of his career at the track.

The Mifflin County Tomahawks put their perfect record on the line as they hosted the Moshannon Valley Vikings in a huge mountain conference showdown. The Tomahawks pulled through with a 44-12 victory over the visiting Vikings. They host the Schuylkill Valley Predators this Saturday night at Rec park. Kickoff at 7pm.
