At the PIAA Wrestling Championships in Hershey, in Class AA, Avery Bassett of Midd-West, Jake Ryan of Mount Union and Kole Winfield of Southern Huntingdon advanced to the quarterfinals. Kameron Kline of Midd-West and Myles Baney of Huntingdon are still alive in consolations. In AAA, Mifflin County’s Trey Kibe advances to the quarterfinals at 160. Nic Allison of Mifflin County is still alive in the consolations at 106. Juniata’s Tyler Wileman and Christian Fisher and Blaine Davis of Mifflin County are eliminated.

The 18th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions Hockey Team earned the four-seed and home ice in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal round and will welcome the No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers back to town for a best-of-three series on Friday and Saturday evening and if necessary to conclude on Sunday evening.

In the NHL, Matt Murray stopped 25 shots for his 10th career shutout and the Penguins opened a pivotal home-and-home with the Columbus Blue Jackets by rolling to a 3-0 victory.

At spring training, JoJo Romero tossed three solid innings, allowing one run on two hits to go with four strikeouts, and the Phillies topped the Detroit Tigers, 3-1.

Chris Archer got out of a first-inning jam and didn’t allow a hit while striking out the four of the seven batters he faced in two scoreless innings, and Adam Frazier got the scoring started with an RBI double as the Pirates beat the Baltimore Orioles, 10-4.
