Huntingdon is into the 4A state quarterfinals, as the Bearcats boys basketball team beat Bishop McDevitt last night, 74-72, at Mifflin County High School. Huntingdon plays again this Friday night.

Tonight, the greenwood and Juniata Valley girls try to get into the state round of eight, both playing in Class A. The Wildcats take on Lebanon Catholic, while the defending state runner-up Green Hornets battle Berlin Brothersvalley.

Four-seed Penn State hosts fifth-seeded Temple in the NIT this evening. The Owls were 17-15 in the regular season. The Lions come into this one with a 21-13 mark.

Juniata College women’s basketball coach Danny Young-Uhrich has been named Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year by D3Hoops.com. Young-Uhrich led the Eagles to a 23-6 mark, guiding them into the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament.

Indiana beat the 76er’s in Philadelphia last night, 101-98. Philly is currently holding down the six-seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference with 16 regular season games to go.

Mifflin county alum Isaiah Kearns took the loss for West Virginia against Tennessee Tech last night. Kearns allowed two earned over four. Tech over Kearns and the Mountaineers, 8-0.

And in Grapefruit League play, Phillies over Tampa Bay, 6-3.
