Mount Union’s softball season is over. The Trojans fell just a game short of making the PIAA championship game, falling to Mohawk Area in the state semis, 3-1. Mount Union was 21-2 this year.

Arizona rallied from a 5-0 deficit with five in the seventh and four in the eighth to beat the Pirates yesterday, 9-5. The two teams will play again today. The Phillies, who had yesterday off, will host Colorado.

The Juniata Valley Striders had several individual champions at this past weekend’s Mountain Top Track & Field Invitational. Winning their respective age groups were double winners Noah Shepherd and Josiah Sechler. Shepherd won the 800 and 1500-meter runs, while Sechler took the long jump and javelin. Also coming out on top were Taylor Ciccolini in the javelin, Evan Shepherd in the 1500, and Tanner Ferguson and Dillon Wert in the high jump. The Striders will be in Philadelphia this coming weekend to compete in the USATF Middle Atlantic championships.
