Mifflin County High School’s Trent Hidlay is out in Fargo, North Dakota, for the Junior Freestyle Nationals wrestling tournament. So far, so good, as the defending PIAA champ is 3-0 with three tech falls. Hidlay will face Jason Gissel of Idaho in the round of 16 this morning.

The Pirates won their second walk-off in three post-All Star break games as the Bucs beat St. Louis yesterday, 4-3. The Phillies also got a win, topping Milwaukee, 5-2. Today, the Pirates get the Brewers at PNC Park. Big series too, as Pittsburgh enters eight games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Fightin’s are in Miami to play the Marlins.

The Spikes tied it in the eighth but Brooklyn won it the ninth. Cyclones over the Spikes, 2-1. In the Eastern League, Richmond beat Harrisburg, 6-2 while Bowie pounded Altoona, 9-1.

Denny Hamlin was in the winner’s circle following yesterday’s running of the Overton 301. Kyle Larson ran second, Martin Truex, Jr. third. Truex still leads the overall standings, with Larson 38 points back.

At Port Royal on Saturday night, Lance Dewease won the 410 Sprints. Gary Stuhler took Super Late Models. Eric Irvin won Econo Late Models and Bill Powell was the Xtreme Stocks winner.

Tennis great Roger Federer won his record-setting 19th major yesterday, his eighth at Wimbledon, in beating Marin Cilic in straight sets. As matter of fact, Federer went the entire tournament without dropping a set. Not one. First time that’s happened since Bjorn Borg did it 41 years ago.
