Authorities are investigating a robbery late last week in Perry County. The unnamed victim told State Police an individual knocked on the door of a camper at Riverfront Campground in Penn Township January 5th.  The suspect, a 45-year-old Millersburg man, grabbed and threatened the victim, then fled with cash and the victim’s cell phone.  The investigation will continue.  Anyone with information should contact State Police at Newport.

 

State Senator John Eichelberger (R-Blair) will declare his candidacy for Congress in a hometown announcement rally tomorrow.  The event is open to the public.  The rally begins at 12:00 noon at the Freedom Township Firehall in East Freedom.  Eichelberger was re-elected in 2014 to his third term in the Pennsylvania Senate. He has been recognized for his work on behalf of local government and business.

 

Local businesses will have the opportunity to get key insights on the basic principles of conducting business with local, state, and federal governments in a free workshop conducted by SEDA-COG’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center staff.  The “Selling to the Government: The First Steps” workshop will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on January 23rd at the MCIDC, Building 60, on Route 103 North in Lewistown.  Registration is required and can be completed online.  For more information, contact Kristen Moyer at 570-524-4491.

 

A chainsaw was taken from a garage on Lucy Furnace Road in Wayne Township, Mifflin County last month.  State Police say someone made off with a Husqvarna 526 XP chainsaw valued at over $700 between December 3rd and 5th.  Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at Lewistown.

 

All PennDOT driver license and photo centers, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday (January 13th), through Monday (January 15th) in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Customers can still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services, including forms, publications and driver training manuals, online at www.dmv.pa.gov.
