A Petersburg woman has fallen victim to a phone scammer.  State Police say the victim was contacted by phone last week and told she would receive a $400 refund for a computer protection plan.  She was instructed to access her bank account online for the refund.  The scammer fraudulently deposited $2500 into her account.  When the victim told the caller he had deposited too much, she was instructed to purchase $2500 worth of Google Play cards and furnish the caller with account numbers.

 

Weis Markets has issued a recall for its 48-ounce Weis Quality Banana Puddin’ Ice Cream because the ingredient label fails to list an egg allergen.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.  The ice cream has been removed from sale.  It was sold in 200 Weis Markets’ stores in Pennsylvania and several other states. The ice cream has a UPC of 041497-01305.  All lot codes are affected.  Customers requiring additional information can contact Weis Customer Service at 1-866-999-9347 Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

A 46-year-old New Jersey woman who was found beaten in Selinsgrove on April 8th has been released from the hospital.  The victim, who was not identified by authorities, was released from Geisinger Medical Center last week.  The woman suffers from trauma-induced memory loss.  No new details have been provided in the case which is still under investigation by Selinsgrove Police.
