WORKERS NEEDED FOR 44TH ANNUAL CENTRAL PA MEAT CANNING PROJECT

February 12 @ 7:00 am - February 15 @ 7:00 pm

Workers are needed for the 44th Annual Central Pennsylvania Meat Canning Project which will take place February 12-15 at the East Derry Fire Company. Volunteers will be canning 34,000 pounds of turkey, over 17,000 cans of meat. To date, with help from people like you, over 666,927 cans of product has been canned for this project.

90% of the canned goods go to the Mennonite Central Committee’s warehouse for shipment to relief efforts through the world. The Association keeps 10% of the cans here in central PA for those in need. The meat is distributed in March to 18 different agencies, including The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, soup kitchens, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, and others, which are spread through the counties of Mifflin, Juniata, Centre, Huntingdon, and Blair.

Canning will take place from 7AM to 7PM, followed by cleanup. Groups are encouraged to schedule times, but walk-ins are always welcome and needed. To schedule a group please call Jonathon Coldren at 717-250-6840.

If you or your church, business, or organization would like to donate food items to help feed the workers at the site, please contact Teresa Cunningham at 717-543-6026.

Monetary donations are also being accepted. Please send them to The Central PA World Hunger Association PO Box 76 Belleville, PA 17004.
